The Address Book Access Widget is a simple-to-implement snippet of JavaScript that you can embed on any web page. The Widget allows visitors to a particular site to (1) seamlessly import contacts from multiple address books, (2) select entries, and (3) enter selected data into web page forms. For the millions of existing Plaxo members, the Widget allows them to access their complete Plaxo address book directly from your site.

What would be your benefits while using this widget?

  1. Let your users access their existing address book from your site Save them from typing in their friends' e-mail addresses AGAIN.
  2. It's really easy to set up …and you can avoid having to write your own Hotmail import.
  3. It's FREE for you to use No strings, we just want everyone to have an up-to-date address book.
Here's a simple example of the Address Book Access widget in action. So, if you would like to have such a widget on your Blog, go to plaxo.com and have it installed in just a few seconds. Enjoy!

Un motiv în plus pentr link back to INconstantIN's Blog: Top referers widget

Let's see how it works!

Widgets for your Blogger (blogspot) or Wordpress Blog: Use Romlet to display your top referers and many more

What is Romlet? Romlet boasts your best site stats and provides both tools and incentives for visitors to boost your popularity. This simple but powerful widget is a brag badge, bookmarking tool and stats counter all rolled into one. Romlet is continually updated to display current on-site information to you and your readers. It also provides relevant and updated bookmarking buttons to make voting for your site as easy as possible. You can customize your Romlet widget, easily setting the text, colors and content displayed. Sign up now and start using Romlet! You can also visit some of our current users and see how they are using the Romlet Widget.

Bookmarkong Tool: Romlet favicon bookmarks are automatically relevant to your site, linking to the social networks you already use and sites you vote on. Visitors can see where you are becoming popular and support your site by clicking top favicons and voting up your links.

Brag Badge: Showing your sources demonstrates your popularity to visitors. Many brag badges are specific to one site. Too many of these can clutter a site, and lead to 'button blindness' on the part of your visitors. Romlet shows as many or as few sources as you choose.

Stats Counter: Displaying your statistics on-site is convenient for you and helpful for your visitors. Romlet shows you up-to-date statistics that let you know if your site is suddenly getting more traffic. It also helps readers know where you are currently popular.

The Map Widget is a customizable Flash map that you can easily integrate with your Blogger (blogspot) or Wordpress Blog. It shows your current location as well as your past activities. Think of it as your personal satellite feed for your friends and readers. All you have to do is to go to the Plazes site, choose the map widget, customize it and copy paste it into your blog. Enjoy!

Tips and Tricks for Bloggers: Ping your Blogs with Pingoat

Every respectful blogger knows what „ping” is. It is the means by which we „inform” dozens of blogging services that we have updated our blog. There are several websites that help you that. One of such sites is Pingoat. All you have to do is to open Pingoat, check the blogging services you want to ping (although it’s obvious that everyone checks the entire list:D) and click “Submit Pings”. I know that I used it for a while, and it seems to me that although they have a button that you could place on your blog, it is not a condition for you to be able to ping. I prefer Technorati for pinging INconstantIN’s Blog, but, you know, tastes differ:P. Try and see it for yourself!

Widgets for your Blogger (blogspot) or Wordpress Blog: AnswerTips

What is AnswerTips? AnswerTips are small bubbles of information triggered by double-clicking any word on an AnswerTips-enabled page.

AnswerTips-enable your Blog: An AnswerTips-enabled page allows your visitors to access definitions and fast facts on millions of obscure words, personalities or slang.

Keep your visitors from wandering: Don't lose your readers to outbound links, new browser windows or other distractions. AnswerTips delivers quick and integrated answers.

How to install AnswerTips on your Blog? It's easy:

1 Choose an icon to inform your visitors that they can now use this tool.
2 Fill in your details.
3 Copy and paste the generated code into your page template.

Those of you who have Kontera intext advertising on your Blog (me included) might not want to install AnswerTips as they follow the same principle of intext source display. Sometimes they may double each other and sometimes they even would not work.

Another hack for Blogger: Replace your Atom feed with RSS

While offering to Serena the links to the hacks for Blogger (blogspot) I spoke about in the Blogger versus Wordpress: A Battle of Widgets? Part I, I came across something else. It is on the same blog I took the related posts hack for Blogger (blogspot).

There are some of the Blogger (blogspot) bloggers who would like to replace their Atom feed with a RSS Feed. I found one way to do that at prurplemoogy. So, here is the hack for those willing to change theit Atom feed on a RSS Feed. Enjoy!

Blogger versus Wordpress: A Battle of Widgets? Part II

This post is the follow-up of the Blogger versus Wordpress: A Battle of Widgets? Part I", stupidly obvious, isn’t it?:)

After the publication of my previous post upon the battle between the two main Blog platforms on the Internet, there happened some important changes in the Blogger’s perspective on commenting. They introduced the open-ID option for commenters.

To put it plainly, this means that the readers of a Blogger (blogspot) Blog can leave authenticated comments on the blog using their blog URLs from OpenID-enabled services such as WordPress.com, LiveJournal, and AOL Journals, or with their AOL/AIM accounts.

Those who do not know how to turn OpenID on the blogger (blogspot) blog should do it right now. It’s is as easier as making the instant reasoning that always is a Part I followed by Part II:D.

So, if you've set "Who Can Comment?" to "Anyone," OpenID will be enabled on your comments pages right away. If you haven’t, then you should go to your blog's Settings | Comments tab in Blogger (blogspot), and select "Registered Users" or "Anyone" in the Who Can Comment setting:

Along with the OpenID option, Blogger (blogspot) has recently announced that unregistered commenters can provide an auto-linked URL. A bug they have repaired after some postponing.

The Blogger (team) end up 2007 on a very optimistic tone with an enumeration of their achievements after taking over the new version of Blogger out of beta.

Here's a quick run-down of many of the fun things we did since then:

• Domain association and purchasing
Hindi transliteration
• Blogger Photos in Picasa Web Albums
• 26 new languages
• widgets: Videobar, Newsreel, Header Images, Polls, Search Box, Google Gadgets, Slideshow, Subscriptions Links
1000th Blog of Note
Old Blogger shut down, New Blogger for all, and Blogger's 8th birthday
Autosave
Profile Search
Blogger in Draft
Video Upload
Feed Enclosures and Redirects
Blogger Play
• Comments: Subscribe via Email, OpenID

Yet, there are some vital widgets that those from Blogger (blogspot) did not introduce. The ones I enumerated in the "Blogger versus Wordpress: A Battle of Widgets? Part I":

1. Recent comments.
2. Top commentators.
3. Recent posts.
4. Most popular posts.
5. List of related posts after every post.
6. Label cloud.

Although, I added there some hacks for these bugs, yet, I am not satisfied with it. Wordpress, I’m coming!!!!

Another widget for your blog

I was speaking last weak about one of the possibilities that could be used for enlarging your blog visibility on Internet along with BlogCatalog and MyBlogLog. Here is a new one: BUMPZee.

One of the main differences if compared to the other widgets is that this one allows you to see, for instance, the number of visitors you have online directly on the blog and some more when you log in on the BUMPzee page. Unlike Pijoo, I am really going to use it.

Autoroll by Criteo: Refer and Gain More Visitors

I came across a neat customizable autoroll widget provided by Criteo. The only thing you should do is to register there including information about the language of your blog and topics it is about and you will get a list of similar blogs. The thing is, you get to refer other bloggers, who, if they care about their traffic, and we all know that the majority of us does, then they will certainly come back to your blog, although this is not a must, you know... I'm just going to try it for a while to see how it works...
